In 2014, during the presidential race, Sao Paulo was facing its greatest water crisis in over 80 years. The population was distracted by the tense political climate while many lost access to clean water.

This is a shot from the Cantareira Reservoir, the most relied-upon water resource in the city. We went there to shoot our campaign’s teaser.

Images of the main reservoir were graphic, the soil was dried up and entirely cracked. To raise awareness, we created an event o social media replicating the magnitude of the problem: The World’s Largest Raindance.

Altukuma Yawalapiti, a native indigenous from Yawalapiti tribe in Amazonia, leaded the project and performed the raindance ritual at the main reservoir of the city.

The event happened on November 21st, the day the main section of the Cantareira Reservoir would be out of water.
